About the Authors

Scott Stephenson is a National Outdoor Leadership School (NOLS) graduate and an avid weekend climber who has climbed extensively in the mountains of the Pacific Northwest. He has crossed South Georgia Island following the famous Shackleton Route and has twice climbed Mount Kilimanjaro. He has also climbed in the Indian Himalayas, the Alps, the Sierras, and the Rockies of Colorado and Wyoming. He has also made many multi-month backpacking trips to New Zealand, India, Nepal, Southeast Asia, Africa, Europe, and South America. He makes his home in Seattle.

Brian "Bongi" Bongiovanni is an active member of and instructor for the Seattle Mountaineers. He is an avid climber and has climbed extensively in the mountains of the Pacific Northwest. He has also climbed in the Alps, Alaska, South America, and the Rockies of Colorado, Montana, and Wyoming. He has climbed the high points of the 50 U.S. states, the Adirondack 46 in winter, and three of the Seven Summits, including multiple ascents of Denali and a solo of Aconcagua.
